Kingborough Council is shaping the future of one of Tasmania’s fastest‑growing and most sought‑after communities. Located just 15 minutes south of Hobart, Kingborough is known for its coastline, surrounding bushland landscapes and the iconic Bruny Island.
As Council is entering an energising period of renewal, we are embracing fresh approaches and modern ways of working across the organisation. This is an exciting time to contribute to how Council delivers services, manages its programs of work, and plans for long‑term community needs.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Manager Program Office to join the Engineering Services leadership team. This role will work alongside the newly created Manager Asset Management role to establish and lead a contemporary Program Management Office (PMO) that provides clear frameworks, governance structures and data‑driven reporting to support delivery of Council’s capital works program.
This key management position is responsible for overall leadership, management and strategic direction of council’s capital program management function. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this successful candidate will build project management frameworks, a rolling capital works program, implement program governance and reporting systems. In this position you are accountable for developing a high-performing team, overseeing the successful delivery of approved capital works program and ensuring all projects are delivered in accordance with project management principles. This opportunity also has the potential to expand into the broader PMO for the council.
In this role, you will have the autonomy to make decisions, drive meaningful change and see the direct impact of your work.
You will hold qualifications or relevant experience in Engineering, Program and Project management or related disciplines along with strong understanding or project lifecycle, governance and risk management.
With the flexibility to maintain a healthy work-life balance, an attractive remuneration package will be negotiated including the private use of a motor vehicle, 12.5% superannuation and a rostered day off each month. The role is being offered on an ongoing full-time basis.
